Swivel Hoist Ring Usage
Swivel Hoist Ring Usage
- Do not shock load swivel hoist rings.
- When using a swivel hoist ring in a threaded hole the thread engagement must be at least 1-1/2 times the diameter of the bolt for steel.
- When using a swivel hoist ring in a through-hole application a nut and washer must be used. Ensure the nut and washer meets the swivel hoist ring manufacturers specifications. Ensure the nut, when used, is fully engaged.
- Do not use a swivel hoist ring unless the busing is in full contact with the surface of the load.
- Do not use spacers or washers between the swivel hoist ring flange and the surface of the load being lifted.
- Ensure swivel hoist rings are torqued to manufacturer's specs.
- Ensure swivel hoist rings are in good working condition and all parts swivel and rotate freely.
- Do not use or apply any component to the eye of a swivel hoist ring that is larger than the inside width of the swivel hoist ring bail.
- Angular loads increase tension. Ensure any swivel hoist ring used has a suitable working load limit for the forces imposed.
