Preparing for Freeze

The US state of Texas endured unseasonably freezing temperatures in February 2021. At least 57 people died in Texas as a result of the mid-February 2021 winter storm, according to preliminary data the state health department released March 15. At the height of the crisis, nearly 4.5 million Texas homes and businesses were without power!

Things to consider for cold weather storms!

  • Block Out Cold Air. Keep icy drafts from chilling the air in your home this winter.
  • Check Your Gutters
  • Prep Your Furnace or have a generator with Fuel
  • Turn Off Exterior Faucets
  • Keep a faucet running to prevent bursting pipes!
  • Inspect Your Fireplace and Chimney
  • Stock Up on Cold-Weather Necessities - blankets, socks, hats!  Layers help!
  • Stock up on Food that does not require a stove.
  • Move your plants someplace out of the elements.
  • Have a Plan and coordinate with neighbors!

Keep you pets warm too! They need to keep safe too!
