Operating Hazards

Ramps, R/R tracks, slippery floors, poor lighting, congestion

Loads: Large, bulky, uneven weight, broken pallets, poorly stacked

Pedestrians (w/poor attitudes), etc.: Horseplay, unaware of forklift areas, not paying attention

Tip Overs:

What can cause a tip over? Tip overs can be caused by the center gravity moving from side to side, moving forward and/or moving backwards to the thin point of your stability triangle. If you do experience a tip over DO NOT JUMP, hold onto the steering wheel and brace your feet. Lean AWAY from the direction that the vehicle is falling.

Picking up Load:

• Determine weight & CG of load
• Center & engage forks fully to mask
• Tilt and elevate to clear ground
• High-tiered loads (ie: slowly back until load clears, lower load to floor, never lower while traveling)

Pallet Rack Concerns:

• Know the load bearing capacity or storage loft destination
• Is the rack properly decked
• Are rack legs or support members bent to disconnected

Restricted View: Your view is restricted by the cage and mast, it is important to drive slowly and watch for:

• Pedestrians
• Equipment
• Drop Offs
